Megabass Siglett for bream
Hi; I used the Sigletts on bass to great effect on the weekend and thought they would also be quite effective on bream. Has anyone used them and how did they go? Best action I've seen on a lure for a while.

Hey mate,
They definitely do work great on bucket mouth species such as perch and bass, but with fish such as bream with a relatively small and bony mouth, it may be very hard to get a decent hook up. I dont doubt that bream would eat them, but I reckon its more that you would have trouble with the hook up. Plus they are a fairly wide profile bait, as opposed to the slimmer style baits that people tend to use on the surface. Ive always thought about it myself and would love to hear the responses of people who have tried it, but thats my view of the issues that may occur. |

I have used them before with little success as stated, little mouths huge bait. I kept a tiemco softshell to give another go at christmas. One late summer afternoon I was flogging the local with stickbaits for nothing and then a cicada hits the water and lasts only seconds
so they do smash them if you have the patience. The boys from Fishhead have used them and cleaned up on bass, bream and even jacks so I guess right place right time makes a big difference. If you are looking for these kind of lures they have a huge range in at the moment which can be purchased online. Think they also changed the w hooks to a single treble on the siglett. I found the link with the pics of bass, bream and page 50 shows a jack on a Tiemco softshell enjoy.http://www.thetightline.com.au/vol1/ Last edited by Rog78; 28-09-2010 at 09:53 AM. |

I am using the trout size ones, 35mm I believe, rather than the larger Grand Sigletts. I'll have to give them a go this summer and will report on the results. I reckon bream should be suckers for their action.

i used a siglett last summer from the shore. i started rolling a halco nano night walker, but had no luck, so i thought i'd give the megabass version a go. no luck for a dozen casts and then threw it into the shadows and slowly rolled it out into the light, and bang. not a big fish by any standard, but it just shows that they do have a go at them
cheers
