Rod and reel advice

I just begun to try to catch bream on lures (or any fish on lures for that matter!).

I have recently been given a rod and reel.
The reel is a Gladiator Champion 10 CH200 and the rod a Trifin xtreme XRL-2S667

Can anyone tell me anything about these?
There is no information on recommended line wt or cast wt on the rod.

The combo seemed ok to me with the SPs and HBs on my first try (although no fish!).

Will this be ok for bream if I put some fireline on it or should I go get something different?

Can anyone help.

Thanks Struggler?

Hi Struggler,
Mate i have a few rods and reel that i use, i find that when i go for such fish as bream i like the light gear like the procaster x rod and a small reel like the diawa 1500 regal. But when i first started off i had a K.Mart special rod and reel that cost me next to nix.Is there a difference.....yes i think so, only in the sence that with a good light set up you can feel the hits, feel the working of the lures....and as the old man says trile and error, you just have to work at it and see what works best.
Im also sure that if you post the question on what most guys use as a set up for lures, they would be more than happy to let you know. The fireline is a great idea, i use 4pound with a leader of 6 pound, nice and long about a rods lenght just so the little buggers carnt see the fire line.
Hope ive helped....just my opinion
