Hi there

Ive heard few people use one treble
on a HB lure in shallow weedy areas
how do u find this technique.
Does it affect lures swimming action ?

Cheers

I assume the reason for removing the middle treble is to avoid snags.
But for effecting teh action of the lures, it may give it a wider wobble. But nothing really noticable.

mate,

for surface i hear of people using single hooks or removing the middle trble because it makes it walk or track streighter. dunno about sub surace though.... it would effect the suspendation of the lure i spose.

cheers

Used to remove the middle treble all the time, due to snags etc, however with time found I was wasting my own time plus missed a lot of fish, as most of my fish are nailed on the middle treble down my way at different times of the year, just my experience. It did not really change the action, only it's bouyancy at the pause.

I used to remove on deep crash divers when fishing rockwalls etc.

BUT, there is an even better reason for me to do it on my shallow cranks on open flats and that is by removing this treble the lure can run ultra shallow if i need it to, as it lifts the nose of the lure.

Reduces fouling on that slimy weed that kills the action on a lure dead, which is a problem up here sometimes.

Mick.

Try keeping the middle trebble and just high stick your rod, works for me.

Cool there is

there is about a 2sec difference when the lure surfacers to the top of the water without the mid treble it will surface for about 2sec faster, and with the mid treble on it will surface about 2sec slower .
example a:with mid treble lure surfacers in 10sec
without middle treble lure surfacer in 8 seconds

i remove the front treble when flats and weed fishing because of the weed problem! i just add more lead tape to make it suspend.. one of the tas bream classics was won by taking the front treble off to avoid the weed. tehy had a 5kg bag+ both days
