Softs All The Go,"but".

LOok i know softs are all the go, but i remember about 15 yrs ago fishin Chittaway creek ,with my pro fisho mate Reedyand we used to clean up on the bream in amongst the snags with a tinny ,handlines, and the old faithful mullet gut,we always brought home a bag full of bream on just two or three snags.Has it all gone soft plastic mad or do people still use the anceint method of bait.Curious.

Well some use bait, but this site is a Lure spinning site, so yeah not many of us do.
Also...we've found that Lures outfish bait most of the time anyway!

i dunno bout that.

but its all upto how you know how to fish, personally i cant see a lure outfishing a live prawn bait.

but every1 has their own opinion.

I fish lures 95% of the time but sometimes I lob out a live bait. Its nice every so often to sit back & enjoy the sun do some lazy fishing & knock over an icy cold beer & have a mag. Its more social fishing than serious fishing though.

the whole thing about lures is the quantity of water that it enables you to fish

if u r just fishing off a small jetty, then yer bait has a good chance of outfishing a softie when it u fish it straight down in the pylons

but u cant continuously cast a soggy stinking prawn at structure that is 5-15 m away and expect it to stay on the hook, lures enable this

Hiya...

Hey SD, I think the whole SP deal is who you talk to.

I have spent like $300 on outfit and lures and been fishing SP's for 6 months or so and haven't caught a fish, even blowie. However I enjoy the constant action of lure fishing rather than just plunking out a bait. But then I used to fish my baits the same way people have been telling me to fish my SP's.

It's a bit generalised statement saying SP's out fish bait, because in my case it is incorrect. But then I am fishing, not catching

...Cheers

Shane

Given the right situation, a good bait fisho will out fish a lure caster, the same as a good lure caster will out fish a bait fisho in certain situation.

There are many situations where bait will out fish lures, example being reef fishing and bill fishing.

I have seen days up north when you could see the barra feeding but they would not touch a lure, but would climb all over a live prawn.

It all depends on that finny little bugger in the water and how he is feeling on any given time or day

G'day guys

I reckon you cover more ground with lures, where as most bait fishos would sit & berley...

Each to there own & each has its day...

Went fishing last night off Jabiru island,in my Jabiru punt, exuse the punts, anyway fished a deep hole using bait and lures with burley as well and i got one stinkin cat fish on the bait and got smashed three times and bitten off each time within half a second on 2"squidgie lures. so the s/ps were running hot when the bait was not.

Being slightly hypo i find s/ps are more interesting as you are always moving and plotting for good looking spots for your lure to hit,but ill always bring bait anyway.you never know what there into on the day, hey?
