One of our most popular lures with plenty of Bream etc being caught on them around the country

They were originally made for Bass in Japan.

It's nothing special: a Pflueger Trion Tournament 7'2" 2-5kg I got for $100 and a Penn Affinity I got for $80. I using Unitika PE Silver Thread on it. This outfit throws the SkinnyPop beautifully. I actually never intended to get a dedicated Skinnypop outfit (what sort of DH would, right?), but once I got this outfit I decided that's what I'd use it for primarily.

I still want to go for a floating Nylon monofilament for it: eventually all braid sinks and effects the action of the lure.
I spent a while cruising the Japanese sites looking for a Nylon:
-low stretch
-floating
-reasonably thin diameter
-preferably clear so I can fish it straight-through
and couldn't come close. The floating nylons typically are thick and designed for float fishing with bait.
Mark if you come across anything suited that would be great. I reckon it would be the perfect Skinnypop line...

Use braid with the Sunline Shock leader
its unreal for surface lures it floats
and its tuff as calamari .

I thought braid floated, I mean Platypus brought a special sinking braid at one point. Flurocarbon sinks and if your using this for your leader it may pull the braid near the join under.
The true braids might get dirt etc inbetween the stands which might cause it to sink, but if you use a fused line, like fireline and stren this might be less likely to happen.

Most Nylon floats for a while, absorbs water then sinks. You can wipe a thin layer of vaseline or mucillin (look for it in fly fishing shops) or fly floatant on the nylon to seal it so it stays floating longer.
Sunline have a floating nylon, or they used to. I have a spool of it in a bright yellow from 15years ago that I bought for blackfishing. Called Float I think.

You could try wiping a fly floatant on your braid to see if that helps.

Yeah Crusty you're right...Braid is supposed to float, right? I've just found that in practice, they end up eventually sinking for a variety of reasons, including the FC leader and dirt, as you say.
I'm keen on giving a floating nylon a go, but no I'm not expecting it to do it perfectly. Yeah true they also absorb water, but some of the newer stuff is designed to limit this. As pigdog said that Sunline has "TRP", I got some 2 weeks ago and am yet to try it.

I thought about using a fly line floatant, but as I also do a lot of fly fishing, I reckon this won't work that well. It will just make the line pick-up more crap as it does on flylines, and it will eventually sink anyway.

The answer might be Stren Microfuse as you've suggested. I'll think I'll try that next.
Ta for your suggestions...
