polycraft

G'day All,

Just thought I'd put up a few pics of my poly now that it is finally finished.

underwater lights for squiding at night time

oh yeah, the trailer glows in the dark at night time.

Wow, thats nice looking work.
Whats the finish on the floor and consoles? Doesn't look like carpet.
And the little metal plate doohickeys on the back with the hydraulic cylinders, are they trim tabs? Does the poly need them?

I shouldn't think there would be another Poly anything like it.
How does the centre console work in practice. It looks like a good idea, leaves the sides free, shouldn't get in the road of the tiller.

Should have named her the Party Tub with the stereo and speakers, and disco lighting, glow in the dark trailer.

lol, yeah I do like my music loud but its used also for when I'm fishing in the middle of no where and a boat parks right next to me.
I got the flooring from Guesty, its called regupol and is a 3mm rubber type stuff. 100% waterproof, scrub off blood and squid ink easily and non slip when wet. Plus tiny trebles don't get stuck in the floor like they do with carpet.
The console works great as the HDS7 sits on a Johny Ray bracket at the top so can swivel the sounder around easily. Plus all switches etc easy to get to.
Yes they are hydraulic trim tabs. I'm a very large man so when I'm on my own under way I can level the boat out easily with the press of a button.
All up a lot of work but I don't think I would have any other boat except a poly.
Cheers, Jan.

Thats an awesome looking poly! very interesting design concepts indeed. I'm currently organising the funds for a poly, not sure to go for a tiller steer, or the side console?

Where did you source the trim tabs? A mate of mine has them on his poly and they do improve the ride and stability of the boat.
Do you have a link for a supplier of the flooring material? It looks good, and as long as it doesnt catch trebles, im a fan!! lol.

Great work mate

Looks sweet, I like the sound of the floor covering. Just one question though, where do you sit while you are driving the boat? The rear deck looks too long to sit on the edge of it.
Great job though, I wonder what type of music bream might like.

Cheers, Dror

Yeah there are 12 underwater LED lights that are bright enough for prawning and squiding at night time.

The trim tabs are probably one of the best things I put on the boat. I got the auto retract switch and wired that into the switch panel so before the boat goes on the trailer all switches are turned off and they retract at the same time so aren't down when boat goes on the trailer.

I got the regupol from JAG flooring but here is a link for the product http://www.regupol.com.au/au/product...plications.php

I'm about 6'3" Dror and when the motor is trimmed down the tiller is long enough for me to reach on either side I sit. The trim tab switch is on the starboard side so I sit there usually as I can hold onto a grab rail and use my thumb to adjust the tabs.

Cheers, Jan.

Ah ok, I'm looking at it from my vertically challenged perspective.
Seeing as you seem to be happy enough to talk about the build there are a couple of other things I was wondering.
The ali frame work is obviously a modular system with plastic joiners yeah? Do you use a retaining screw or something to hold the sections together?
Also I can't see any hinges on the hatch lids. Have you recessed them into the ply before you put the flooring material on? It looks real neat without the hinges sticking up and would be kind on toes.

Cheers, Dror

The all frame and plastic joiners I got from Capral in Sydney. Once frame cut its a simple matter of hammering in the joiners. Once they are hammered in, they don't move. I screwed the whole frame down into the poly easily enough (I've put a couple of anodes onto the frame aswell as I used S/S self tapers) and then got working on the timer. just hot mixed fibreglass resin over all timber as wanted it to be totally waterproof and could get all the timber done in a morning. The hinges have been recessed and then I used the black plastic angle and siliconed it around all hatches to make it look better.

Cheers, Jan.

yeah BB, built 4 new rods to match the colour scheme and now have 4 new luvius reels to match those also.

Thanks for the comments all. It was a long process but at least I shouldn't have to touch it now, just a clean up now and again.

Cheers, Jan.

Thats a good looking job mate, love the LEDs. Is the framework aluminium tube with the plastic connectors like you can get at Bunnings? It looks like a good option for when I want to do my tinny.
