Well ill start by saying this is the best site ive ever seen,jammed packed with all the info in the world,its like one big family,glad i joined brothers.

Im getting a 10ft punt soon and i want to explore the mangroves and rivers ect.Can anyone with any local knowledge pinpoint some good spots for me or at least lead me in the right direction so i can give my SP"s a real go.It would probably save me10;ooo hrs of madness if i had a lead or two.Thanks

.Anyways got me a 3.2mt Savage Jabiru yesterday,perfect for my mangro fish'n.Hows that for getting started.

Well I mose well start this one my self.

Went to the nerang river today up near the rsl club,caught a 25cm bream just before the freeway bridge on the left side downstream,on a 2in fat grub m/oil.

Then fished both sides all the way up to weedons crossin and only landed a 45cm lizardwithin a 5 hr stint.so from the m1 bridge to weedons i would have to say for me wasnt a hotspot at all.Keep you all posted of my adventures on the g /coast.

Even if I give away only 75% of good spots its better than none ,as i feel thats not what this sites about.

Hi There
If you spend some time between the ols Ski Gardens and the Bermuda st bridge ( where the Surfers Police boys club is) there's lots of structures to check out and you might pick up a jack as well.

Thanks for the tip Clithy,im having trouble trying to find the ols ski gardens though,ive had my head in the directories for about an hr now but i cant seem to find it?I do know where the PBYC is though.If you could get back to me mate ,Ill be there asap.

Today was one of the best boating days ive seen in a while,just magic it was.Picture perfect weather.
Put the tinni in at runaway bay,picked up a small breamski out the front of the marina.Then this dude pulled up along side of one of the channel markers 2 secs later his rod looked like a horse shoe .he yelled out for a net so i potted over ,up she came ,must of went over the kilo,43cm it was,good to see.he got it on a 3"Bass Minnow+3 gm Jig,I didnt hesitate,straight into my box of goodies,out came the 3" minnow,chased up the other channel marker and proceeded to bombard it.
three bream later and i was a happy man,the Lirards couldnt help themselves either.

A good alround lure especially arond pilons and stuctures when theres a current.

Well the old ski gardens is the area about 400 mtrs east of the ross st bridge. lets just say that from the ross st bridge to the bermuda st bridge is pretty good, also, from the bermuda st bridge to the isle of capri bridge should get you something. the pcyc is right next to the bermuda st bridge (south east side).

its bloody hard to milk any local knowledge,good to see another g/coaster on the site.

We should hook up one day and give the river a bream bash.

Yes mate you'll probably see me and my son on a couple of kayaks off Regatta Pde.
I heard that a few years ago a guy caught a 7lb bream on liveys around the Bundall Chevron bridge, don't know if it's true though.

Ill be giving that a go samurai,but i may have to wait for MR MINN before i try bridge pilons again,,a definate advantage with the o'l current.

I was wathcing the boys fish with a minn kota mounted to the bow and they were just doing it tooooo eeaaassssyyyy!!!!!!!!!!
The current was their best freind not their worst.

Frustration seems to leak its way right into my bones when fishing in a strong current as i am at its mercy.

On a more encouraging note though ,i had a night flick down at good old coomera river.

Headed off as it was approaching dark and made my way up towards the gold coast marina.I was there about an hour ,flicking softies in and around all the pontoons ,pilons and the fancy 2 billion dollar boats

,but to no avail.

So i poured a cuppa scatched my numb ass and decided to give the mangroves on the other side a go,from my first flick and there after it was an absolute smashathon

.

Id get my lure as close to the bush as possible,give it one twitch and the freinzy would begin ,trying to drag me under the tree with it.This happened time and time again,landing over 11 keepers that were never kept.

What a night ,this made up for a lot of bad days,great way to spend a birthday,hey

I have fished the Nerang River quite a few times over the past couple of years and I thought I could give you a hand as far as some spots go in the river. Usually what I do when we go down there is put in at Isle of Capri Bridge Boat ramp. From there I usually fish up river starting at the bridge itself(Bream Jacks Trevally Queenies Morwong Flathead. Then I continue up the right hand side of the river to the first creek entrance you come to Little Talubudgera. This creek is a really good system and it goes up for miles and is really worth a good going over for all the species mentioned above. If you dont go up there continue along the right hand side up the river and after going up about 1km you will pass I think three canal entrances? Fish all of these and the bridges in them Monaco street bridges I think thay are called? Next you will come to another bridge still on the main river which has on the left hand side sandy weedy bottom and on the right sort of coffee rock looking mud bank with a very sharp drop off beside it, Both sides fish well and so does the bridge. As you poke up further on your right there is another canal entrance on the corner this area here looks like a little bay fishes in the deep section for trevally when they are around and the bridge that is in a little further for bream jack and flathead. Once you have had a good fish in these mentioned areas drop me another e-mail or give me a ring at Mossops Annerley and we can organize a time to go out together in my boat or something. Went to Jacobs well today ,on the water by 5.30 am ,and would you believe it,the wind started blowin its guts out by seven,so I decided to look for a bit of shelter and found a river system called pimpana river,what a mangrove system,the place looked truly untouched until 5 jet skiers decided to tear the whole ecosystem apart with their disrespectable and aggressive antics,screaming past me as if I was some sort of finish line.Spewing the old oar couldnt reach the bastards,could have coat hangered the lot.

Any way when it was quiet,I threw everything at the breamskis and was only getting a look with the (little ripper)colour (e).

The bream were doing something Ive never seen before ,they were actually waiting for the lure to surface and were nibbling it in the middle between both trebles,how frustrating just watching the cheeky buggers toy with the lure like that.

I only nailed one breamski ,but hey,at least im lucky enough to be out fishing
