Humminbird Matrix Fishfinders

Does anybody have any experience or comments about the Matrix range of fishfinders?

Tim The Bream

uses the Matrix 35x, i reckon he'd have a few idea's about that sort of gear. It has a quad beam sonar that generally covers a wide range of the bottom which is handy when it comes to our type of fishing.
I must admit i have no experience of the unit myself, but when i get the dollars it will be the one i purchase.
Regards Geoff

Looks like a reasonable unit. Good to see Humminbird producing some decent sounders at last (their Legend range also looks good).

Corey, they are $899 at BIAS.

Obviously the more you pay, the better they get, but for that price, I reckon you couldn't go past the Lowrance X51 at around $379, again from BIAS.

It's got a good pixel count and reasonable power. Lowrance kick the ass of any other sounder in that price bracket.

Aw gee thanks Corey, I think I just spend too much time reading fishing forums when I should be working.

I run a Matrix 35 off the back, and a Lowrance X-51 off the front

The Matrix rocks - the side scanning stuff is truly amazing.....

Think about motoring past a pylon, seeing the pylon appear on the side screen, and the fish hanging off it..... I kid you not this has happened on the water to me

At Glenbawn Dam hunting Bass, I was motoring along a rock wall and saw the 'arches' on the side scanning bit - threw the plastic where I thought it was and BIFFO - Bass on

Then there's the fully upgradeable software, GPS plug-in, Barometer plug-in.... and more accessories in planning

I love it .... if only it could cook and clean.........

Cheers,
