swivel

hi guys...is it ok to use one of those swivels with the clip on them to attach it to a lure or should i use a knot??

will the swivel still make the lure move properly??

will it decrease my chances of catching something if its attached to a swivel??

No worries with them really.

But i prefer a knot.

If you do use them, check em all thee time for corrosion and replace often.

As you can see theres not much going on at work today, so posting like mad!!

A swivel clip may effect the buoyancy and action of the lure, especially bream lures which are very finely tuned..

Ideally use a loop knot or tiny fly clips, no swivels.

Nope, they are usually sold at tackle stores.

I use decoy round snaps in size #00

snap swivels do affect the action of most hard boodies and they can spook fish. i use a perfection loope and that seems to worke just fine.

lol i wish.

i have never been shown how to fish HB's or SP's so im sorta learning myself....so i just chose that cause i thought that 20lb braid is thin enough and it would be super strong too...i got no idea as u can see

i can get 6lb braid off ebay at a good price...would that do?? and also what size fluro leader?

Drop down to your local big W, get some 4lb fireline and 6lb vanish, it will be more the enough for breaming.

What rod and reel have you got?

Ebay braids are generally crap, and in some cases you'll find the 20lb you've got is actually THINNER than the 6lb ebay stuff.

For lines your best bet for starting out would be 3lb Crystal Fireline. Once you've found the knack to using a braid/superline, you can move onto something like a Sunline Super PE should you choose. Fluro is more personal choice, but I've been using 6lb Maxima fluro lately and can't fault it at all

As for snap swivels, brilliant for 3oz sinkers, crap for lures. Like MM I use #00 Decoy round snaps. They're about the size of my pinkie fingernail (damn small) and are only $4.50 for a pack!

Hey we all started somewhere. It'll be fine until the gear bug bites

Fireline's a fused braid.
