not swimming straight

My lures dont seem to be swimming straight at the moment they turn to the right (the lures right) when i retrive. What would be causing this? Is it line twist if so how do I get rid of it? Any advice would greatly appreciated

Tweak the tow point on the front of the lure with a pair of pliers.

I am yet to use a brand of lures that have all swam straight out of the pack, its just one of those things.

What lure or lures are the problem? Like Brad I've only ever had it happen once or twice (that needed tweaking) but if it's happening to all of your lures then maybe something else is the problem not the lure itself.

Michael.

i have to do it to a few lures after i have caught bream or trevs on them. sometimes during the fight, the line tie bends slightly and then an adjustment is needed

Yea, the majority of my lure swim to the side on a straight wind. Not sure what the problem is, BUT I have notice since i stopped using snaplocks they seem to track alot better.
Are you using snaplocks?
cheers,

I first noticed it happening to my strike pro lure, as I am new to breamin I am not sure if its a good brand or not ( so far its not good its still has not caught). BUT then it started happening to my beloved ecogear sx40 which I love and have caught plenty of fish on. After reading all of your very helpful post I had a look at the sx40 closely and it is scratched to hell from a lot of over use as it it the only sx40 I own. So I think it maybe lure damage. BUT WHAT IS A LOOP KNOT? HAVE I MISSED SOMETHING? PLEASE INFORM ME WHAT IT IS AND HOW TO TIE IT.

Thanks again for all your help its good to see people helping each out in todays climate

How fast are you working your lures? If you're talking about Strike pro pygmys, they are not the most stable lure and will often turn or flip over if retrieved too fast. They're a lure for dead slow retrieves only. Hope that helps

Michael.

don't use a homer rhodes loop knot
they weaken your line by too much - up to 50%

use a hangmans noose knot but with 7 turns rather than 5 and pull it tight but don't close it fully

or google loop knots - there are lots better alternatives out there

or use some mustad fly clips and change them after every trip - quick cheap easy and strong:

A lot of my strikepro lures don't swim straight out of the box but most only need a minor tweak at the tow point. As for SX40s, I've yet to find one that DOESN'T swim straight out of the box.
As for loop knots, I use the Lefty's improved perfection loop knot. Hasn't had a knot failure yet when hooked onto good fish or snag.
