Hi, just wondering if anyone uses the stiffy devilfish, how u fish it, wat colours u use, and how u would compare them to other vibe style (blade) lures.

I work them pretty much like any other vibe, i use the copper head the most, works well in mild dirty to dark water.

I tried to use one once. First cast I hit a bridge pylon. Really bad cast, however all I got back was the piece of plastic in the centre where the tow point is!
I was amazed! I have hit plenty of pylons with other lures much harder and still got all the lure back. (I obvoiusly need more casting practise, but under the Canning Bridge they are hard to miss) I don't think I will be getting another.By the way, I am aware that it was not the lure's fault it hit a pylon, but it didn't hit it that hard if you know what I mean?

Ive used them as any other blade, and although their action is fine, they are too fragile. Ive had fish rip the back trebles out, and I have heard of this happening to others as well. Also I have reeled them in and the heads have been massively dinted by some rocks they hit, which makes the nose even flatter and eventually puts it out of place.
Great idea with the acrylic body, but they just dont hold up when the pressure is on. I think the main problem is that during the prototype testing, they were made with only 1 treble in the center, which is obviously a stronger point, where as now they have two, and although the bottom on closer to the front is strong, the back one has only a few millimeters of plastic to stop the treble from breaking off. Definitely not worth the risk of losing a big fish on them |

don't all poly blades have the same problem of the rear tow point being fragile? koolabung ones do it stiffy ones do it and i think the ghost blades would as well as they are incredibly thin in the tail section. personally i don't use them but i don't think poly is suited to this sort of application imo, it's just too fragile. as for casting them into a pylon all lures not just blades can and will break upon impact, it's just part of fishing. I think if they made a smaller version of about 3.5 cm, with a metal body and a weight of 3 g, it would be much better.
I have also heard of how they break easy, and that the paint (especially on the head) comes off easily. |

I have never had a vibe break on me except the stiffy devil vibes. And that doesnt mean its because I have only used the devil vibes :P TT's, cybervibes, vx's, zx's, etc etc, have all lasted me and have all been great to use, and no fish has broken them.
Ive even heard of whiting breaking the devilfish vibes for god sake, haha |
