Squldgy Fish not happy!

Had a flick with some Squidgy Fish and Wriglers. Riged them on an 1/8 oz round head jig, the Wrigler was great, sitting on the bottom the tide had the tail wrigling away realy well, and the slowest retrive had it fluttering beautifully!
But the Fish was a diferent story! It took a brisk retrive before it started it wiggle! Not Impressed! It was riged with the tail sloping down, the same as I rig sliders.

Any thoughts?

gday
i have the same problem so i have stopped using them for bream and just use them on flatties cause the flatties like the eratic retreive, it could be that they arent rigged propely, not to sure really

Lightbulb Different retrieve needed guys...

Shad don't swim like a single tail or paddletail. It took me a couple of tries before I realised this. I use shad for either diving down the side of pylons or off the bottom with a very jerky retrieve.

Try moving the position of your jighead just under the chin of the shad and you might find it swims a bit better. I rig with the jig inside the plastic, most commonly using the nitro blackeye jighead. If you check out the Nitro's in the online store you'll see a cutter down the bottom that you can buy for a few bucks. Punch out an eye hole and insert the jighead via this cutout. Once threaded the jig/eye will sit inside the hole. Press down on the top of the shad and the towpoint should pop out enough to tie your leader onto.

Cast this out and let it settle on the bottom. With your rod sitting horizontal to the water take up the line slack. Next pull the rod up to vertical and back again with a nice smooth action. Again take up the slack, wait a few moments and repeat the action.

Your lure will be doing this:

/ | / | / | / | / |

You'll find that even though your shad tail doesn't swim whilst being retrieved, it will flutter when it's being ripped and dropped. Hopefully during one of the pauses you'll find a fish on the end of it.

Warren.

I had the same problem. I hope this isnt just a stupid question but I'm wondering why they bought out the squidgy shad and the squidgy fish if they are nearly the same??

The "fish" has a softer more "wriggly" action and has the belly flagellators for more sonic vibration according to the sales blurb.
