Electric motors because of the relatively small amount of thrust work much better pulling a boat than pushing it, So you will have a lot better control with a bow mount.

You can modify a transom mount and put it at the front if dollars are really tight. You are better off with an electric than without.

But best option by far is bow mount that you can foot control and steer while you fish. My guess is if you get a transom to start with you will upgrade to a bowmount later. More economical to get the bow mount first up.

hey mate

I've had both styles of motors over time, the transom mount, is cheaper and easier to install - i had my mine mounted on the bow of my my tinny, was a bit cumbersome, and it was easier to drive the boat with the bow pointing backwards than forwards and unless you had the tiller against you or had another way to stop it moving, it required constant steering.

I think my bow mount - and the other guys are right - its super painful to go fisihng without one, once your used to it. The bowmounts take a bit of getting used to - a few sessions and you'll be sweet. They need a bit more upkeep and my bow mount has broken down more than my transmon mount did - probaly due to lack of maitanence and shoddy product. They are great to fish with, as you control the boat with your foot, leaving your hands free to cast. With my watersnake, the cable is long enough to move the foot pedal all around my tinny, so i can stand up at the front or the back - or even sit down when trying to be stealthy and i can still use teh electric.

Hope this helps you out mate.

I got a tramsom mount leccy really cheap of ebay just to get me thru for now.

What i actually did was make up a bracket and mount it to my bow and it does the job.

I have a seat mounted up front of the bow and the tiller is within easy reach!!!

Cheers
