Zipbaits quality?

I know this might be a little like poking a hornets nest and not what i intend to do but has anybody had issues with the durability of Zipbaits?
No doubt they are a fish magnet but i bought a couple for the recent vic bream round at docks and have been dissapointed with the quality.
I'm wondering if i got a dud lure as all i have heard is reports of these being the best thing on the market but after half a dozen cast under a jetty my new lure looked like it was a season old and had yet to catch a fish. It is missing a large amount of colour from one side and the bib is lost to the yarra (looks as though glue failed)
I know that pitching them under jetty's where they do come into contact with pylons from time to time will take its toll but after 6 casts this lure was destined for the scrap heap. I tied on an SX40 and cast that for the next few hours with no damage whatsoever.

Again, i'm not having a go at Zips, just wondering about other peoples experience's or if i have in fact just got one of the few that could be dodgy?

I dont own any of the Khamsin's but im guessing it might be a dud, remember a few weeks ago someone posted about an SX-40 with the paint completely scraped off after only a few fish?

I'd like to see what Hyper Tackle has to say. From what i've seen he has great customer service.

BTW how hard were you pelting them into pylons? haha

hahaha, not hard enough to damage the ecogear

I have used the khamsins on flats before with pretty good success but obviously not much hard structure there to cause any sort of damage.

He told me its because of the foil finish and that all foil finish lures suffer the same fate.

Haven't fished that colour before, but as far as paint jobs and bibs are concerned, mine are still almost like brand new. Even after 14 fish on the one lure.

Had an issue with the mag-drive system on a couple of Rigge46's, hasn't occurred in the replacement. But I gotta say, Mark at Hyper Tackle is very very good on customer service and was very easy to deal with.

Maybe hit a few mussels? They've put a few scratches, along with teeth in the bottom of a couple of my lures (SX40, Rigge46, Smith Jade.)

Bib has broken off due to hitting something it's not glued but part of the mold, no guarantees on scratches or breakage caused by fish, fishing or in your case pylons basically that red colour is a foil finish and as durable as other foil finishes on the market.

Guys I'm not going to start replacing lures because they've scratched of have broken when it's no fault of the lure, lures do break & scratch on fish and while fishing not only mine and I'm afraid that's a part of the game and you'll need to buy another one

Mark

every time I HAVE broken bibs and yes that looks broken , its been from bieng over eager to get out of trees or by hitting stuff when casting isnt accurate , smith , ecogear all brake when treated bad but there realy isnt any dist on here to hassle , prob reason why there isnt

"Wont bag any of the others but that colour is hopeless."

That colour caught me 3 fish this arvo...

Admittedly, out of all the khamsin colours ive used, that one (505) seems to flake quite easy (not unlike megabass vibration x's)

But zippies in general are up there with the absolute best crankbaits on the market. As far as the bib goes i wouldnt doubt that bad glue could be the cause, but you cant tell me that the paint has magically fallen off the side of the lure and not been cast into something?

Do that with any lure on the market with an opaque/reflective finish and i reckon that you will end with the same result

If the bib is part of the mold you must of cast it pretty damn hard into a pylon for it to snap off of the actual lure. I'm just saying... maybe work on your finesse casting skills? haha

Yeah the gold eco gear sx 48 goes down hill pretty quick without any obvious whacks.
cheers nereus

edit: just realised that khamsin bibs are cast, not glued. glue cant be at fault!

Thats the bit that concerned me, it certainly didn't hit hard. May have been a bad angle a manufacturing defect or just unfortunate, who knows?

As i said at the top, definately not bagging the product, was just curious about other people experience with them.

I will certainly not use a foil coated lure for pylon pitching again, call it a lesson learned

i havent had any problems with their durability because half of them dont have any to begin with. two weeks before the walpole comp i bought five riggee deeps , two mdr's and more than half out of the packet swam on their sides, did loops or just didnt have any action at all. paying around 27 dollars for a lure id like to assured that they actually work out of the pack. anyone else had this prob?
to add to this i had a zipbait sponsored angler tell me he hasnt had any problems with hes but then i cant figure out why mine dont work at all. i was really looking forward to using them down walpole and hopefully been a convert but now i just dont know who to buy them off to be assured i wont be let down
