using soft plastics

being new to using soft plastics and not having much experience with them i was wondering how you use them properly. i always thought that you cast around obsticals in the water and then jig and retreave them.

is this correct, any tips / methods that work best

cheers adam

on or about off stump...I've seen a few methods used, but usually just bump em across the bottom with pauses to let it sink and sit on the bottom. I think ya just gotta practice for a while and find out what works for you. Diff styles work on diff days too.

after seeing bear jig last w/e at the narrows i have change my whole apporach to sps. ( i was also surprised how close you were jiggin to the pylons bear, ive always been taught "dont you dare DohDohDohDohen spook the fish" and been made to row to bream spots.)

It seems to me the best way to jig is to act like it is a bait. leaving it on the bottom for a while, then just a slow little jig for a bit, then leave again.

Im really just a live bait man, ive tried a few softies in my time, done allrite on them but no horse's like i have produced on live baits, Im planning to go out this morning (sunday) and put this new method to the test, hopefully ill post some positive results.
