a mate and i were a bit drunk the other night and in betwen the usual bullcrap talk we came up with a plan to tie a fly on a hidden weight jig head and use it on our light soft plastic gear

has this been done?????? is it even possible to cast????

It works.. I know loads of people who use flies tied on jigheads or just put a split shot on the leader in front of the fly to cast it with light spinning sets. I think its called spinflying.

You still won't have as much control over the fly compared to if you were using proper fly gear (especially if you need the fly to suspend or float rather than sink), but its a great method to use flies without a fly set.

Cheers,
Matthew
