Talking rubber band flies

Couple of years back I was having fun catching Bream and Salmon on these flies.I was shown a US page with flies tied with rubber bands that looked like gents.
Couldn't get my ten thumbs to tie them .
So I thought outside the box and created these worked a treat.

The fake fur bodies move like a fish under the water Green was best back then.
Easy to make
tie on some fake fur
tie and glue on some rubber bands
Now I used some craft diamond eyes but my first ones (like my poppers) had drawn on eyes.
They work great with totally sinking line .
Cheers
oops forgot about the body colour its nail polish from the cheap shop
grown man gets strange looks from teenage check out chicks lol

lol Thats classic!! I'm just learning how to fly fish now. Very frustrating indeed. I've just been buying flies for now. Might try making a few of them though (think I'll get the leader of the opposition to get the nail polish too) Thanks for that.

I should add as I can not take a picture of the ones I'm currently tying .I'm trying to modify Morsie's whiting popper .Ive made it smaller and painted it bright colours so I can see it.early trials with badly made protoypes (I started off with size 6 hooks down to number 14's) autumn showed the bream wouls attack it with gusto.
Made from Foam you can get at mitre 10 cost me 83 cents for 2 metres(its in a roll)
and something for a tail I've used fake fur fake coloured hair hell even the feathery stuff from novelty pens .
Just waiting for the Bream to come back

Those flies. A fur tail I get.
The body is that where you wrapped the rubber bands? then painted with the nail polish.

Are they weighted dumbell eyes? or stick on eyes with no weight.
Can't quite tell from the photos. I think this season will have to take the fly rod out to tempt some saltwater fish.

Its cool catching fish on home tied flies and even better if they are your own design.

Crusty sorry for the quality of the pictures .
The eyes are stuck on and are fake craft diamond like rhinestone thingees my wife used for some craft project .They by dumb luck matched the scales on bait fish shinning in the light,I kid u not matched these green baitfish scales .You can just draw on black eyes with a texta if u like.
And yep what I'm calling the body is a rubber band tied wrapped and superglued on.Then painted with cheap nail polish but you could just use clear nail polish over the rubber band.
Fake fur tail you can buy the fake fur at spot light and I liked using that as when its under the water it moves like the body of a fish.
And its an unweighted fly I fish on a sinking line .

For me I would cast the fly count to 10 or 20 then two strips stop and repeat. If the Bream are hungry I would get a hit either a fish or a tail spit.Salmon (salmon trout we call the babies) and the odd mullieway(never landed but seen) liked them as well.Hell I even had 30cm plus squid hit and spit and follow some multi coloured ones !!
I understand its not a normal fly pattern have had it compared to a surf candy. And I know some way better fly guys will get offended by it BUT it has worked for me .
Its just one of those thinking outside the box things an idea that got in my head .
I hope if anyone does try it it will also work for you.

rubber band flies

I tried using a CTVT band to repair a Shazam I won on eBay. The tension is different than the original band, so he has a strange stance. Doesnt someone carry replacement bands? I have also used T1 elastic with good results.
by the way,
