Shimano 1000 size reel options

Just after some thoughts on the best value Shimano reels to put on a T curve flight 7ft 1 piece.

1. FI Stradic 1000 for $215
2. FB Twinpower 1000 for $250
3. FC Twinpower 1000 for $295

cheers,
Nathan

Check out a Saros if you want to keep the Shimano theme in your outfit. I think that they are the best value for money in their class. I have had one for over a year and it's still as smooth and reliable as the day I got it. I also have 2 FC Twinpowers, in 1000 and 2500 and I absolutely love them. If you are willing to spend that little bit extra, it's definitely worth it. Of course, as always, good care and maintenace of reels and all gear for that matter will keep them in their best working order for way past the Shimano 10 year warranty.

Twinnies without a doubt - I've had a TP 1000 FB for several years now and for the money I recon it's not really all that far behind the Stella 1000 FD I currently use. If you go that way try to get hold of one of the earlier models made in Japan because they did start turning out some of the latter FBs in Malayasia. (Look arround and you should still be able to pick up a FB Twinny for about $200 if someone has some 'old stock' left.)
Having said that the FC Twinnies look and feel pretty awsome and $295 sounds like a v/good price for one of these.
I'm not sure about the FI Stradic 1000 but I tried a FI Stradic 2500 for a while and personally wasn't all that impressed. IMO the extra $$s spent on the Twinny will be well spent & put you in another league altogether.
Good luck with that - Paul

Thanks for the info guys, I went with the Twinpower 1000FB, it balances really well and I had to self regulate on the price a bit to keep the "purchasing manager" happy.

cheers,
Nathan
