Fixing sticky drags

I found a big Ryobi threadline in the garage that I thought I could use as a muck around reel for heavier stuff etc. The reel is cheap and crap and has a really sticky crap drag. I ripped out the drag washers and replaced the material ones with home-made soaked oil (leather) ones. This has made the drag much much smoother, but the drag knob still sticks a bit and turns a little when line is pulled out under the drag, which tightens the drag setting. Any thoughts on how to fix?

You could take it in to your local tackle store and see what they can do.
