Transducer Mounting

I am currently getting a boat fitted out at a dealer.

The bow mount has been fitted as usual but I have request my sounder to be mount at the bow of the boat as well.

The transducer is attached to the bow mount motor and the cables are run back to the sounder which is mounted near the bow. There is a mess of cables especially with the transducer cable being so long.

Has any one have pictures of their boats where this has been done or suggestions how this mess can be cleaned up.

How much excess cable do you need to enable the bow mount to be rotated into place.

Help

Macca

I just wan't idea's to go back to the dealer with. In the end I will not hand over the money until I'm happy with the fitting.

I have a Lowrance colour unit mounted on the bow and yes the transducer cable is about 15 feet too long. All I have done is coiled the cable and kept it away from everything else. That way it will reduce interferance, make sure that the power cable is seperate from the transducer cable especially if your runing the unit off the trolling motor battery. The amount of cable required to operate with the rotation of the motor is only a inch or so. However if the motor does continual 360 turns then you will need to watch it so that doesn't rip the transducer off. One thing I can say is that it works a treat. Mine does not look straight down but scans anything up to 50 feet ahead. It paid for itself on the first outing.

Hope I made some sence.

Madaff,
Is there any chance of a couple of pics. I'd be interested in something similar as well.

Thanks,

Mate your more than welcome to come and have a look. I have sold all my cameras, as all my money is in the boat. That reminds me I need to raise to cover of my insurance policy.

If you want to have a look I will PM you my mobile number and after work sometime you can check it out. Or go for a fish and see it working.

You're on.

I'm hoping to be out with a few guys this Sunday, but I'm free after that.
