Being a new member and this being my first post, I must say the site looks fabulous although a bit daunting in the amount of info available.

Read the bits about the blackmarketeers and just hate that so I thought I had better go to the shop and buy something to show my support.

Unfortuinately I am an old hand live bait fisher and this plastic stuff is all foreign to me....I once went into a tackle shop and asked what to buy and whether it was all it was cracked up to be and got the answer..."If you can't catch them on fresh nippers you bloody well sure won't catch them with a piece of bloody plastic".

All this aside I have been sitting on a breakwall these last couple of days and they are braining the bream. The locals use 20lb line, small running ball right to the 3.0 hook....bream are on the best side of 1.5 - 2 kg. The runout current can be quite hard but the fish seem to bite all day. Pillies are the bait, because prawns are too expensive, I have seen worms and bread all produce results.

10metres from the low tide line is the base of the wall and very rocky, many hooks lost if not careful.

I would love to try a soft plastic lure here, I am carrying an injury and can't pump nippers for about two mnths,...which and what rig ?????......I want to buy from the online store.

Given these factors you will need some decent weight to counter the water movement and get the lure near the bottom. A snaggy bottom covered in rocks means that you can't afford to let the lure settle. Just keep it moving with big hops and a steady retrieve, the big hops will be your pause in the retrieve. You may lose a couple of jigs at first but once you've done that you should be able to get a feel for the bottom structure and how to avoid hooking it. Now depending on the water movement I feel jigheads in sizes 1/16th , 1/8th and 1/4th of an ounce should cover it. There are a couple of locations in Perth where the water belts through ie: Freo traffic bridge and the Narrows and the weight is needed to get through the water column.
As far as hook size goes and knowing sea run Bream you should be good with a size 2. Now soft plastics that work would be a Squidgy Wriggler and Fish in size 2 or 3 or Paddle Tail grubs and curly tail grubs in the 2" to 3".

Hooks - try Gamukatsu's Round 25 - 1/16th Size 2
Soft Lures - Squidgies wriggler or fish, Atomic 2" or 3" Fat Grub, Ecogear Pad Tue Prawn Imitation 2.5"

a good starting point is to think natural for the colour and it never hurts to have a touch of chartuese

Also vary your retrieves, what may work in WA may be slightly different for where you are. Try quick, slow, erratic and minimal retireves also to see what best gets them going at your spot.
