Step up from the Seido and go with the new model Sahara (FC) or Symetre (FJ). Or, if you have the time, float about for a bit and check the Buy and Sell pages. Reels pop up on here fairly regularly: you may be able to get something like one of the older Stradics. Also worth checking the Bay of Fleas....... should be able to pick something up at a very good price.

Daiwa's newer 1500's are fairly small, but sill bigger than a Shimano 1000. A Luvias 1003 is almost double your budget, and is their cheapest 1000 size reel. Others will chime in here with their recommendations, but for me the big 2 players are worth a first look.

I think you will struggle to find anything your looking for at $220 plus post from any store since the prices have gone up during the last month.
Look for second hand if you want to stay under budget.

You can get the Stradic 1000FI from the link below. I know your budget is $220, they cost $229 here and with postage you will be looking at $20 over your budget for a new Stradic. Be hard to find them at a better price than this.

A new Stradic starts at about $275 at the moment, going on the new prices...so I'd be jumping at $229 plus postage. Otherwise, I would look at a Shimano Saros for about $250 or stick to the Seido for around $170-$190.

They are all very good value for money reels and they all come with a 10 year warranty.

I am currently using a Saros, a Seido and a Symetre.

It may say so on the box but i can't see it going much past 12 months.
Even though i like using shimano reels
The rest is ...from web site
against defects in materials and/or faulty workmanship.
This warranty does not cover claims for normal wear and tear.
The following items will not be covered under warranty:
