How much fireline?

I was wondering how much fireline people are putting on their reels. I initially put 1/3 of the spool (40m) on, but then found after progressively shortening it through retying etc the knot between the backing and the fireline started catching the fireline when casting and became a pain. Does anyone put the whole 125m on? Howabout half the spool?

Hiya...

I have done this once, and going by the advice of more experience people I put the whole 125m on. Which has proven very wise due to all the busting off I have been having.

...Cheers

Shane

I back up with a 'cheap' mono then put on half a spool of super. That gets reversed after a few months then the same applies to the second half. I'm aiming to just buy 1 spool per year (per outfit - yeah I'm cheap )

If you have a spare spool, put all the 125m on and then fill up with mono to correct amount. Then back fill other spool so that mono is on first leaving full amount of fireline on top.
Never just use fireline cause it will slip on spool (so Ive been told)
