Shimano Stella 2500FD - second spool question?

I recently got hold of a new Stella 2500FD and was wondering about getting a second spool. I'm currently running 6lb Sunline Super PE for bream ect but was wondering if a 3000 spool would work to run a heavier line class on a different rod for light beach spinning ect.
The specs for the 2500 & 3000 read identical except for the line capasity and apparently the STL 3000 FD spool fits the STL 2500 FD.
I would be really interested to hear from anyone who has tried this setup or had similar experience running different size spools.
