Daiwa lure opinions!

Hi, I've just taken up fishing after a long break since I was a kid, I bought a few daiwa lures, two SC Shiners (in red gold fire and yellow spot) and a DR Minnow in ghost olive.

Since then I have started reading up on the net and it seems that the SX40, r2r baby vibs and atomic hards are really popular while the Daiwa lures get little mention. I'd like to give them a go anyway... I was wondering if anyone had any advice on them,

Cheers,
Mozzie

Left: SC Shiner Right: DR Minnow

drop into your local tackle store and have a chat to the guys, there is a huge range of lures to try and they can usually give you some advice on what colours work best, where and when.

Mozzie i have used the sc shiner a fair bit and i reckon its a great lure, good action and a good depth for around structure, the baby bass and gold orange are my most successful colors. might want to replace the hooks with Owners though the hooks they come with are sh%? house

the sc shiners and dr minnows are good lures for the price - upgrading the trebles is a good idea long term

the sc shiners come in 40 & 500mm sizes and are a suspending lure that'll dive to 1.5m and are best fished with a twitch and pause retrieve - they suspend after the pause

the dr minnows come in 50, 70 & 90mm and are a floating lure that dive to around 1m and are best fished with a steady retrieve or fast ripping and jerking - they will float up on a pause and work well over flats

i have a couple of each in my tackle box

Thanks guys. I'll stick with them and see what I can do..

I have been fishing with them a few times and keep getting hard hits, but only one 12cm bream has stuck so far. I guess I need to replace the trebles like robbo suggested.

my favourite daiwa lure would be the double clutch, they can be difficult to find - all mine have been bought online from japanese stores

Ah the ol double clutch, awesome lure. Found the 75mm outfishes the 95mm 10-1 and far better if using them for bream, because theyre shallower.
Shame their hard to get. And lucky i have 11 still in boxes.

Clutch porn!

try pausing after the hit, giving the fish time to have a good look
