I've used them a lot over flats and deeper water for GT's, queenies, jacks and barra. They have a very loud splash and bloop, depending on how actively you work them. A good amount of weight and a thicker profile, so they do splash down quite a bit heavier than other poppers. In addition, the rattle is a big metal ball in the tail, so it makes a lot of noise.

Not necessarily too big for bream, but the hooks I think would be a bit large for whiting. The biggest issue is size on splashdown in shallow water, and the fact that they are LOUD!

GT's love 'em but...... all the ones we have need new hooks, and there's a beastie up around Lucinda somewhere that has my baby bass patterned one on his "yoinkage" rack. 150 m in one clean non-stop run, then bit through the leader knot.
