Keep Looking

Yeh, good luck Jeremy.

I have been on a crusade for a while now trying to track some down.

You can do a search on google or eBay for Salmon Doubles (as the yanks call them) and will probably come up with the same Mustads I found, like those you would see on an old FLOPY lure. Unfortunately these are quite a large wire profile and have a long shank.... Not that good for rigging up on small metals

The good news is, that a little bird told me an Aussie importer of high quality Japanese lures has some fine wire, short shank, chemical jobbies on the way for tackle store stocks...

Best case is mid-July, samples and a list of stockists hopefully coming soon

Thanks Mark
Thought that might be the case the only ones I've found are from the US or Canada. At least there's some on the way. Just have to pillage some from my other lures.

Hi

I also have searched everywhere for the Double/w hooks, could only find the gamagasu frog hooks but only in size 40. I do have a couple on my RtoS bubble pops I could change over to the blades. But I would like to get a pack so any info would be helpful.

Thanks Charlie

I got mine from Szarn. He had about 200 VMC Splits in various sizes from 18 to 12. I am quite certain that he also had a film container in his trout bag that was full of size 18 Splits in brown.

Owner does have a range of doubles.

One's the SD-31TN
(http://www.owner.co.jp/jp/cultiva/si...oks.html#11578)

Another is the SD-33TG
http://www.owner.co.jp/en/new_produc...w/2007new.html

===== =====

The 31TN is rated X, same as the ST-36BC. Having said that, the double doesn't look like it can cop as much punishment. The 31TN doubles are nickel/silver in colour.

The 33TG doubles are gold. Thicker gauge, but I found quite a number of hooks with the internal angle not centred (if you know what I mean).

I have some size 8 31TN, more size 10 31TN, and even more size 8 33TG. A size 10 double is probably a good replacement for a size 12 Owner treble. Despite the bigger size, treble + split ring is still heavier than a bigger double, so your suspenders will become floaters.

I got all my doubles from Hong Kong. One of the shop assistants said though that the 31TN doubles been discontinued. They're the ones I prefer between the two.

But there ya go, start Googling for SD-31TN or SD-33TG (or pestering your local tackle store who stocks Owners). From the second link, there seems to be a double equivalent of ST-36BC trebles - the STD-36BC. I'm up for some STD-36BC.
