Outboard Motor Covers?

Im looking for a good value stretchy outboard cover.
What are fishers experiences?
Have you made your own?
I have a need for one that covers/stretches over the cowling only.

I put an OCA cover on mine. Very expensive, though very well made.
One of the more useless items added to my boat I'm afraid, as I am still to work out exactly what it achieves.
I no longer return home with insects plastered all over the cowl, but they are much harder to wash off the cover. I have never had a problem with sinkers knocking chips out of the engine cowl, so I can't even see a benefit there.
The cover needs regular cleaning, which is much harder than washing the outboard cowl. I'm still working out just what benefit I am getting for $250

same same for me, but being stupid I bought the whole winter cover as well and it stays under the front seat. Exellent quality but I find my self asking why when the whole lot cost me $450 dollars.

Apart, from hiding whats under them

I fail to see the point of them also

I can buy a heck of a lot of fuel, ice, or gear the cost of something with such little use.

Mine doesnt have undercover protection. I remove the outboard from the hull and cart it into the shed. It gets the odd scratch easy and a cover reduces the heat build up of the direct sun on the cowling.

Yeah sure justifying the cost of a cover that fits well without it costing the replacement price of a new cowling is the outcome Im seeking.

Anyone found decent covers that fit snug without looking like a daggy shower cap?
