Stay Away!!!

I have the FN1000 and it is endless trouble!!! It seizes up for no reason at all end though I spray it all down after I use it and oil it regularly. Even cheap mono will get under the line roller on the bail arm. The shape of the spool creates line tangles very easily. Maybe I just got a dud but I won't buy another Abu reel until I have sufficient information other than from the company. For more faithful service my Shimano FX2000 that was $35 has been a lot better and it doesn't even have ball-bearings. I don't know prices where you are, but for the same price in Bunbury I could have got the Okuma Fina 30. My friend has one of these and it is one of the best reels for its price in my opinion. Anyway, wait for other replies because I might hve just got a dud. Hope this helps.

???

I have a abu FN 3050 with 5 ball bearings and i hasnt been any trouble, I have fishing constantly with it in salt water and I have embarrassingly never cleaned or oiled it. I dunno about the smaller ones but mine is great.

Thumbs up

I have an Abu Cardinal 303 (5 Bearings) which I think is a piece of art. Although I haven't had it long, it hasn't caused any troubles and is a joy to use. I'd certainly buy another...unless I could get a Stella for the same price

I also have a Shimano FX2000FA which I've set up for my son. Certainly seems to be a reasonable reel, with no "bad habits" displayed as yet, and certainly smoother than the $40 Jarvis Walker reels I used to fish with.

Cheers,
Scott
