cyberflex

just been checking out a few us bass sites and noticed quite a few softies people are using over there are made of "cyberflex".apparently very tough and stretches unbelievably.any body heard of this or got any info on it??
would be good having something the blowies dont tear to shreds.

Are they the plastics that stretch to like 10x normal size? If so, yeah I've tried them or a Japanese equivalent on flatties... it killed 'em, but then what doesn't catch flatties? With my flattie plastics I keep em all in the one packet cause I generally use relative cheapies and don't mind colour blending... these extra stretchy ones melted into a puddle within hours of contact with other plastics. Also had one melt on a varnished table. Evidently different properties in the polymer...

I don't know too much about these plastics but i have heard that terminator lures might be bringing some of them out soon. Not sure what style though.

If they are the super stretchy ones you are talking about they do look good but i dont' think there will ever be a soft plastic made which will stand up to the teeth of a toadie

I had a tackle shop guy here show me some 'new' plastics from the states and I reckon it might be them. It is almost like a cross between latex and elastic, he showed me an 8" kingie lure and it stretched out to nearly 4 feet (I stopped cause I thought it was going to snap), he reckons they will go heaps more than 4 ft. They only had larger models, but he was awaiting some smaller stuff for the bream and flattie brigade. I will suss them out again when I am there again.

So you can use the worms as rod wraps, then when you get to your spot stick them on a jig/hook and fish with them. When it's time to go home take them off the hook and use them as rod wraps again :-)

Why do they need to stretch so far?
Are they more resistant to cutting by fish with sharp teeth?

I bought some cheap soft plastics from a $2 shop that I'm sure are made of the same material. Very stretchy stuff. The stretchyness makes it tough to damage. The plastic gives way rather than cutting. I tried poking a hole through the lure with a knife. I ended up giving up, the point of the knife couldn't get through the plastic even though it was an inch beyond the other side of the lure.

Unfortunately all the lures in the pack are large stickbait type things, too big for a bream to take.

If you store the Cyberflexx ones with normal plastics, the cyberflex will go to mush and the normal ones will go hard. Before placing cyberflex in a tacklebox you should wash it out before hand.

Yes, I with two partners are fishtek which import Terminator. We don't do plastics at the moment only spinnerbaits and other wire baits. I made the post as I would hate to see someone destroy hundreds of dollars on plastics as they were not informed. If anyone buys cyberflex or a similar material from OS stores they should be careful when storing them.
