New daiwa reels? Sol, Tierra, luvias?
Hey guys,
Me and a mate are lookin at getting new spinning reels and we've decided to go for daiwa because of the choice. Now i was just wondering if u had the choice of a sol, caldia kix, tierra or luvias keeping in mind we want best value for money which reel would u pick? I've also read there's a new luvias coming out and a gelbajkin or something liek that. Does anyone know when these will be out and what price they'll be going for? Open to suggestions. Thanx in advance for any replies. Cheers fatbream. |

The gekkabijin is for sale already in aus, last i heard luvias was a dying breed but they still seem readily available so maybe they are still being made, Sol is ugly and overrated and the tierra nice looking and basically a sol ( a few minor differences.) Kix isnt much different either but i havent heard of any troubles with it compared to the sol- seems people were too fussed with spare spools than listening to potential problems. My kix's are the 2004 finesse models not from Aus and they perform flawlessly.
I think the prices in WA are $360 luvias 1500 $200 tierra 1500 $270 kix (really rate them too) $289 Sol (over priced in WA) $480 for the gekkabijin I would also consider the 1500 exceler plus if you want to go cheaper at $160 too. Overall the luvias and kix are my choice models though I havent tried the gekkabijiin and being from the saltist stables they would be awesome too. |

NEW model LUVIAS coming out in September (in Japan anyway). Price is something like 30000JPY. Don't expect it to be selling for less than $400 if it makes it here though.

OLD Luvias = great value for money. I've got a couple and they are pretty much indistructable. Look at the certate as well, you might find the price isn't that much different from the Luvias and they are dam good as well.

I might have 2 brand new Luvius reels for sale shortly. Nothing wrong with the reels, but I like LH wind and these are RH wind, and are not convertible. I'm only interested in getting my money back, so probably about $300 each plus postage. The reels haven't been delivered to me yet, and I am still thinking about it.

I've just received one Luvius from a different source, and it doesn't look like you can change the handle, and I've also seen them advertised as LH wind. The instructions are all in Japanese, even though it is Australian delivery, so they are no help to me at all.
Dave, will you have yours with you next Saturday? If so I will have a compare with mine. I could well be wrong about this. Cheers, Andy |

simply take off the cap and unscrew the screw.
Simple as that. p.s the cap can be a little hard to grip. Last edited by Zac 87; 27-08-2007 at 08:08 AM. |

Thanks fellas, I've just had a closer look at the Luvius and it is now LH wind
It had only been delivered with enough time to spool it up before I took it away for a few days R&R. I can't read Japanese, so until now I was left guessing. Cheeers, Andy |

30,000 yen, holy crap. The new NFeet Gekkabijin is listed at 19,000 on Plat. This new material they're using must be pretty expensive. It's a carbon/graphite material.
It'll be really interesting to see how the new reels compare to the old ones. As far as I can see, the body is totally different to everything else. Real4 setup: with all the aftermarket options. I can see a super pimped version already!! Looks the goods for a shallow capacity finesse reel. |
