Anglers now need to make themselves aware of the rule changes for 2008. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to drop me a PM.

Thanks,

Bear,
Has this been the case for the 2007 series or is it only coming in for 2008?
Your original list of finalists was saying that you had to be in all 4 comps to qualify for the final, but now it seems that you have reverted back to your best 3 results to qualify?

Has WABT changed this ruling so from now on Boaters/NB must compete in all 4 rounds to be in the running to qualify for the final?

If this is the case, what is the reason for WABT's change in the ruling?

Thanks in advance for your time.

Simmsy..

I think it is up to the boater to get back to the weigh in at the right time and not to penalize the non-boater if they are late. I know this happened in the last AOY comp. Is it fair to penalize non-boater for equipment problems on the boat they are fishing on.
Also my opinion on the boat prize for the Grand Final should be given to the person who wins the AOY as they have performed the most consistantly over the entire year not in a single comp. Do we need to have a Grand Final. Are you the best fisherman for the year if you win.
Just my thoughts .

Simmsy,
Sorry mate, it hasn't changed, I just forgot to change my doc file. I'll fix it up.

Changes to be aware of

  • Boater entries to the tournaments will be filled in order of receipt of correctly completed entry forms and payment. Start order will be completed as each person pays. These entries will be entered and are guaranteed entry until 50 Boaters register.
  • All boats must have a minimum 60 litres of live well. WABT recommends using a recirculating system installed and functioning. However, a fully insulated and aerated live well will be acceptable. No ally bins, garbage bins or plastic tubs will be accepted. Where a boat has 2 live wells, then a minimum of 50l will be acceptable. Marking of bream with elastic bands or clipping of tails will not be permitted in WABT tournaments.
Where a boat has 2 live wells, then a minimum of 50l per live well will be acceptable.
  • Boaters and Non-Boater must wear a personal floating device (PFD) at the start, when the boat is up and planing and back to the finish. Non-Boater must supply their own personal floatation device (PFD) for use in competitions. WABT recommends the use of PFD1 rating, but will allow any Australian Standard approved PFD.
  • Angler Penalties
Where the WABT committee deems appropriate, anglers may be penalised weight off their bags where event rules are broken. This may be for things such as a failure to provide correct face protection.
    First offence is 250g.
    Second offence is 500g
    Third offence is disqualification.
Offences are carried through the season and are accumulated.
