replacing singles with trebles
gday
i was wondering if anyone on this site replaces there trebles with singles?, if so hwat type of hook do you use also what the hook up rate, is it better or worse than trebles? thanks heaps blake

Yeah I do - I use decoy hooks. Personally I have found no difference with hook-up rates, but I find it doesn't get caught up on the line like it can with trebles. Also makes em easier to un-hook.

Gamakatsu make a single eye lure hook, the difference i find is because of the design which makes the hook sit up right, you barley pick up weed or snags. I will fish a treble over a single hook anyday but places like the blackwood and deep down the canning i prefer single hooks because of the snag factor.

i do replace trebles with single hooks, it helps avoid snags and i find the hookup rate same, just easier to unhook the fish , worst is trebles and the fish swallows the whole thing , thats why i go single hooks. when doing that i get a electronic weight scale and match up the treble and the single hook so it wont affect the lure, dont just go for bigger hooks to get the same weight u can find heavier quality hooks. cheers ben |
