HB for Pontoon, marinas, etc

Hi,

A huge chunk of my fishing is done land based and I am trying to find locations around Southern Sydney to go after bream from landbased positions.

I have a few places i enjoy going many being small private pontoons, marinas and so on.

I am wanting to get some Hard Bodied Lures to suit these conditions.

Casting around 10m or so into marina pontoons/boats and retrieving back to me and casting sometimes only 5 or 6m and retrieving back to me when i can see fish. I am only new to this and learning ways to go about it, organising an arsenal of lures to suit is a must and thats what i am looking at doing.

Cheers,

Brad

Over here in Perth I love using BabyVibs around the bridge pilons and yacht clubs, they seem to always do the trick and you fish them in a similar way to a plastic so you're able to get them all the way to the bottom unlike alot of bibbed HB's.

Thanks mate

I have been looking at the baby vibes and really like the look of them....what size would you use? I think they come in a 35 and a 45 or soemthing similar?

I like the look of the purple one and also the greeny one with blotches

Personally, I still like the 35's more due to sinking rate, but use the 43's in deeper water when I want to get down quicker. I also find the 43's do well on the flats.

The 35's seem to be more popular, just give them a bit of time to get to the bottom, you will sometimes get a bream taking them on the drop too.
Yes all colours work.
I like the purple ones and anything with gold on it.

Ok then

Will get a few 35's from the site tomorrow.

Anything else recomended?

I have some very large bream where i fish that just watch and do not touch so i am working on them....hooked one eventually the other day but got bricked...i think he would have been high 1kg range maybe 2. the 6lb leader couldnt handle the pilon....have 8lb main and 10lb leader at the moment....will change it to a 4 or 6lb main and a 10leader when i get 2000 sol reel.

Why lighten the mainline, Dolmo?

Your leader is all the fish usually sees immediately after the lure, so if anything, that's what should be lightened. The only real exception to that for me, is when I need a lot of distance. You're only casting 10m or so at the time, so that's likely not paramount. Don't worry about increasing your line capacity or anything like that while fishing for bream in close quarters, you'll do fine with a little line.

Anyway, good luck with it all,

Owen
