Daiwa Sol 2000
I know there have been other threads posted about the sol 2000, but I have some specific questions.
1) How well does it lay line? 2) When winding does it have any wobbles that annoy you? 3) Does it cast really light unweighted soft plastics far? 4) Do you get any tangles as a result of the reel and the light line? 5) And has anyone had any problems with the Sol such as the internal gears and stuff? Thanks guys, Cheers! |

Firstly, I really like the SOL's and currently have 3 of them.
1) I think it lays line fine. 2) none 3) I think it does a pretty good job 4) Occassional when using SP's for long sessions. I think most reels suffer like this. 5) none so far (touch wood) been using my SOL's for about 18 months now. Very good reel for the money imo. cheers Brad.. |

Currently using a Sol 200 and have yet to have any problems yet
1)Im more than happy with the line lay, it works just fine . When i first initially spooled it up ,the line lay wasnt the best . This had more to do with the memory in the Fireline . Once the fireline got a bit of use , ive had no problems 2)No annoying wobbles 3)Casiting of unweighed plastics far . I believe far enough . This has alot to do with what pound braid you have on and how well youve spooled it. What sort of rod your using can also play a huge factor. 4)No tangles from the reel. just the odd tangles from working the braid in windy conditions. 5)No problems with internal gears . Its all good so far . Good choice for a reel in this price bracket. I also use a Caldia Kix1500, tey are virtually the same reel. Anyways good luck |

1) great line lay
2)slight vibration when winding, been fixed once but has come back 3)casts unweighted placcies fine 4)very very rarely tangles, better in this regard to my other daiwa reels 5) apart from that vibration ive had no problems mechanically il put the vibration in my reel down to abuse over a fairly long period, i got my sol when they first showed up in tackle shops in august/september 2005 so it has had a vast amount of hours on the water and im not overly nice to my reels cant go wrong with a tierra, kix, sol in my opinion you will be very happy with a sol |

1-Very nicely, very little mishaps
2-Nope, or not that I have noticed 3-That's more to do with the rod, but it does the job anyway 4-Less than other reels, but it happens to all reels anyway 5-Digigear technology is tops, no problems so far Very good reel over all Can't go wrong with a Caldia Kix either.

I think i will get the 2000 size in the sol and spool it with a 4 and a 6 possibly....will still be looking at throwing it at smaller pelagics, bream, whiting, flatty and so on around port hacking also.

I've been using a Sol 2000 for a few months now and think it's a great reel. Not quite as smooth as the certates, but pretty smooth for the price anyway.
Line lay, casting, gearing, drag system, all seems to be very good, actually I only just got back from using it half an hour ago and caught 8 estuary cod, 2 moses perch and a bream of about 33 fork length. Also caught a few school jew and trevally on it over the past 2 months, they go a bit harder and the drag was always nice and smooth.
