Single hooks instead of trebles

I have been playing around with some of my halco scorps 35's and removing the middle treble altogether and replacing the back treble with a single hook. Hasn't affected the swim characteristics to greatly thus far.

I'm not confident enought to come and say that this is the best way to go yet, but I have been very happy with how the lures have performed and still caught fish.

Anyone else doing the same thing or similar?

Interesting, what sorta singles have ya been using? Similar to the ones on the Yo-Zuri Agile Goby?

Been trying the gama single lure hooks for the middle treble on my hard bodies and have noticed a better hook up rate compared to no middle treble. Caught more fish lately on the middle single hook than on back treble (Collie River snag bashing). Does not got snagged up yet because the point faces away from the snag. One problem is that the gama hooks aren’t the strongest and most reasonable bream will bend them on tight drag settings (havnt lost a fish to bending out but a few close calls).

Try to get hold of some Decoy single lure hooks as been told that they stronger.

I've got the Decoy singles and find there strong and very sharp, i dont use them particulary much but when i have like on a CD3 they hook fish very nicely.

let us know how you get on AtomicGrant

I've done it a bit when landbased fishing on SX-40's. Still catches fish with the hookup rate pretty good most of the time. There are however some days that the bream don't hookup very well on singles.

For hooks I had been using any old hooks and bending the eyelet flat, but I picked up some decoy hooks (size 6) today and will be giving them a work-out this weekend.
