owner weedless heads

hi all,
could anyone give me advise on the 1/16th weedless heads.

After having a killer session over the weekend in the Mclennan straight in Gippy on Gulp sandworms using TT jigheads. Ive been looking into these weedless heads which i only recently realised existed.
What size hook would you reccomend on a 6' Worm.

I use no 2 sized 1/16th owner weedless for some fishing, I find it hard to hook fish with them, but you'll get bigger mouther fish with them.

Look at TT Lures All-Terrain Jig, too. Very nice.

last week ive had a session like no others.. ive fished the snags very hard as ive found out all the good fish were in there.. so ive used the weedless hooks... big mistake.. all morning i was on to realy good fish and ive lost about 8 and mate about 6 .. he was fuming.. we were done everything posible to keep a fish on the hook .. but no succes.. we took some video shots too and i tell u mate was so off the rack as i cant show the vodeos to anyone.. he threw all the weedless hooks.. i like them for fishing realy hard in to the snags but the hook up rate is totaly terible .. the fish we lost were realy good size fish had them hooked about 6-10 sec and all gone . al same so it must b the angle of the hook .. no more to say ..

I love those owner weedless jigs, especially for a few areas i fish... I use em upto 1/8th when the flow's up, throw em parallel to the bank an slowly roll em back....

Have wanted to post something about this for a while.

I have used the 1/16 oz owner weedless hooks with some success, and i have used completely weightless worm hooks with even more ltd success on hookups.

But surely these hooks are still an option in extreme tiger country. You can throw a thick bodied jerkbait or a sp worm into some really nasty stuff and get takes where a normal jighead will snag b4 the fish get a look.

I believe that the gauge of the wire in hooks is just too thick. The Gamakatsu and the other weedless hooks out there were designed with bass in mind i believe.

I just think that a finer wire weedless hook needs to be made specifically for bream unless such a hook already exists?

A lot of pros fishing very light on sp's have now reverted to fine wire hooks as they were not getting the hookups to stick on heavy wire hooks, esp on day two of a tournament when they go a bit shy and finicky.

Does anyone out there have an opinion on this?

The deocy nail bombs are almost identical to the owners but are a much thinner wire. I have broken a few so dont like them though.

If Squidgy made smaller hooks than 3/0 on their Snake heads they'd be good. Still your hook up rate will severly drop using any weedless hook.

Have to agree with Powerbream.

Hook up rates are still pretty good with Weedless Hooks as long as there is a decent "gap" between head of the jig and the barb so i would opt for a decent hook size.

It may be the depth that people are sinking the hook into the plastic that is causing a problem if you're dropping too many fish.

Remember these hooks are best for fishing places where a regular hook would get fouled or snagged almost immediately, so they do have a place in the tacklebox for mine!
