night fishing plastics
went out for a gold coast session last night, and decided to cast on the canals of the nerang river.
found what ever access i could get as i was from the bank. It was high tide and falling with a full moon. I used a lumo slider grub weightless with a lumo bed in front and a chemical pro-select. From the word go..... the bream jumped all over it, and got 3 in a short hour session. I found that if you use a touch on the slider for awhile it will glow more...... this cause the bream to see it more. just wondering if anybody else has fished them at night using this method(as it is the first time i have used it). Any suggestions on any other colour's or brands...???(even hard body types!) cheer's drew |

Drew,
I've heard a couple of guy's in the West have been out at night and used almost every colour SP and caught bream (strangely though not on glo's - as far as I have heard so far). Even HB's coloured black! I think it has more to do with vibrations, enticing movements and apparently the sillouette of the lure. I have not yet done it but spoken to a few trusted experienced anglers who have! Herds |

black hardbodies at night works by sillouette, it's the best sillouette you can get and they look up at it.

I went diving at night with an underwater light at the bottom of the cliffs in the Mitchel River at Eagle Point. All the Bream were alseep and just hovering on the bottom in the shallow areas.
I would have thought they sleep in most areas at night. When I was surfacing one time after going deeper out further in the river I had a large Jellyfish right on top of my head like a hat, pretty creepy in the dark. The same night we went around to the Eagle Point Jetty in the lake itself (Lake King), eels were the main night time denizens there and they were certainly moving around.

I have caught several bream at night on plastics, and the best color i have used so far at night is sliders in motor oil. has to be vibrations....

I have had a few attempts spinning at night using ecogear paramax's (these things really glow!!!) but have had no success yet( except for a squid). As pw-bream said a lot of bream seemed to be kind of asleep sitting motionless in the shallows (I observed this in my local lake/lagoon). Maybe in certain areas/situations, the bream remain active and continue to feed, but where? Lit up areas like bridges would probably be a more likely spot.
There's obviously a lot more experimenting to be done when it comes to spinning at night. one question, has anyone had glow in the dark plastics ignored while normal colours are being hit. (at night) Lizard |

I went for a fish the other night and noticed alot of movement in the shallows behind some reeds in a dark area off to my left. I had been fishing in the light given off from under the east perth traffic bridge.
Second cast into the dark area with a green pumkin 2 1/2"pad tue got me a fish, but that was the end of it. I think being such shallow water(30cm) and the fact that he swam every where trying to get off must of spooked his mates. On the way back i walked the bank with a decent halogen torch which lights the bottom in a couple of foot of water and looked for any signs of fish. I only came across one but he didn't get to spooked by the light and he seemed to be just crusing a certian area cause about 5 mins later I doubled back and he was still swimming in the same spot but this time he was swimming into the light which made him piss off into the deeper water. So I'd reckon they do pretty much the same as in daylight, cruise, eat, sleep and do them in whatever order their instinct and or community decides is best for survival. But I'm just guessing cause I still haven't found a fish that will answer any of my questions

I know this is mainly bream fishing but i plan to fish Western Port bay( wade to the channel) and 70% will be at night fishing for some gummy on the surf rod(bait) but while that sits there i was going to get the graphite rod out with plastics
![]() i caught a flathead there last time on bait so i guess flathead are prim for the plastics and maybe other fish? should i use the "natural"colours: bloodworm, avocado, jelly prawn, or killer tomatto? i also have some Atomic 2"fat grubs in brown, and brown with "green"tail(forgot names) i guess i should jig, let it sink and jig... what happens if its always getting weed? eg when it sinks to the bottom it will fall into the weed's (i also have a large squidgy paddle tail "bloodworm"colour that came with the video maybe this might be usable (on a heavyer rod tho as it would kill the light setup) regards Ben |

i found that most of the bream ive caught at night have been caught while out foraging or smelting instead of around structure. i just cast around schools of mullet or where i know there are droppoffs.
