Mitchell 310x.
Anyone here used a Mitchell 310x,or aren't they trendy enough?Mine's been thrashed for 2 years, and apart from some minor corrosion to screw heads has performed really well.Great little reel for a $65 price tag.

Dont know about trendy enough but more like crap.
Many years ago Mitchell made solid robust spinning reels that were made to last a life time and thats why there are some still in use today, solid brass pinion gears cast iron bodies etc simple but robust. Unfortunately they didn't keep up with the quality they were in former years and lagged behind in reel technology. Same goes for the Penn Spinfisher reels the new ones are not made to last and soon chew out the steel pinion gears, according to a reel serviceman I know. If you have an old Mitchell or Penn hang on to it cause they aren't what they used to be. Zipman |

Obviously a lot of Daiwa, Shimano fan boys on site. The little Mitchell has some great features, worm gear drive,5 "decent" ball bearings,a bayonet type spool change, extra spool and it weighs 215gms.Really heavy!!!!It's caught a ton of fish over the last 2years and it cost $65.The new model is available at present, for under $100.You guys make me laugh. How ignorant are you????Obviously blinded by bullDohDohDohDoh!!!

Philbert your even more of a Dilbert than I thought.
Those old Mitchells and Penns were most certainly heavy but plenty still kicking Daiwa Steez vs Mitchell I know which one I'd choose. Zipman |

Pic for the uninitiated.Very nice.Next time you think about spending $80 on a couple of HB lures, try giving one of these a go instead, you might surprise yourselves. But I doubt it!!!

Geez dude, give everyone else a break, it's their money, they can do what they like...If anything I'd say your jealous that they have the flash $$$ gear and you feel as if you have to argue that your reel is an equal to theirs, am I right?. Noone cares what gear another person uses, and why you seem to is a mystery to me!

Nice fish...is that meant to prove that the Mitchell is Better than a Steez or Stella etc etc? coz reels have nothing to do with the quality of fish you catch.

My sentiments exactly Superduperman, Philbert I couldn't care less if you used a $10 combo, if your gonna dish it out expect to get it back.
Dont have a dig at everyone about using top of the range gear, I dont think it comes down to being trendy it's just what folks can afford and want to pay out for their passion in this case it's fishing. Mate if your happy with your Mitchell good for you, how about being more subtle in your posts, ie I have a Mitchell and it's been a great reel, it only cost me $65, anyone else using one? By the way nice fish mate Zipman Last edited by Hyper Tackle; 25-01-2007 at 09:29 AM. |
