Polycraft 410. 40 or 50 hp

Hey guys just wondering whats the difference in performance of a 40 or a 50hp on a side console 410 poly.
Also what sort of speed can you get from a 50?
Cheers Scott

Go 50 every time, all the lads here have 50s on their Poly`s and mostly Yammies, I couldnt imagine being in one with only a 40 on it, Id guess it would lack some biccies getting out of the hole I reckon. I could be wrong though and JMO.

cheers

polyboatowners forums had a thread with people posting all their top speeds but they seem to be having issues with their site.

Been on a couple and they boogey, I would say 30+ knots on a good day. But I am sure someone who owns one can give you a better idea.

28-32knots depending on prop etc, Ive one mate who used to get 32 and now gets 28 because his props not a pure as it used to be. But all reports are you shouldnt have a problem nudging 30.

I have a 40 Yam 3 cyl on mine and have seen 50 kph

I'd go the 50 purely as that's what they are rated at always go the max rating when I bought mine the rating on the tiller steer was 40 so that's what I went with

Mine gets out of the hole no worries at all

Cheers
Ozzy

i've got a 40 yam tiller steer on
mine as well and have no prob's
with it .
get's out of the hole and on the
plane very easily.
the 40 & 50 have the same bore/stroke
-67.0x66.7mm and the same displacement
-698cm3 the only difference is the kW
output-40=29.4@5000rpm compared to
the 50 which=36.8@5000rpm and this
is due to slightly larger carb's on the 50
(this info is for the 2 stroke model's only)
so anyone who say's the 50 out perform's
the 40 by heap's and the 40 not worth
having is talking through their exhust pipe.

Some I have read are putting the 60hp e-tecs on them since they are identical to the 50hp, just a re-mapped ECU.

Try the Honda 50, best in it's class imo, and the lightest.
