new aussie made tourny tub

as a proud owner of what I consider to be the best australian made all rounder, the Southern Star Stealth, I was interested to hear that the guys at SS have a new project at hand, one that some of you guys may find interesting. They are apparently developing a full blown tourny tub. It will be called the F1, 5.45 m and capable of taking motors around the 150 hp mark. It will also have all the things we breamers like including lots of bling, gas struts, lockers etc, etc. Deck design will be as per all bass style boats, very similar to a ranger apparently. Hmmm, interesting, have to wait and see how they turn out.

Wizard

Tell us more about your boat - set up, performance etc.

They have always looked the goods as an allrounder but I have never seen one "in the flesh."

l've had a good look at it with other fellas and we all seem to agree its right up there as Wixard explained. There bream tourney package should be the goods, and a real contender for the #1 Aussie tourney boat. Is there any specs up anywhere at the moment?

Hi Craig and Drewy, vital stats, hull length 5M, beam 2.29, weight 630 kg, vee 19 degrees, color charcoal sides with white bottom and topsides, power currently 115 2str yam(soon 150 hpdi or 4 str yam), top speed atm 48mph,under floor fuel 115L, well and divider(120L),dry storage and removable back platform(15 secs). The stealth hull is the same as the sf 525 hull with different gunwhales etc. The rear platform on my boat, as stated, is removable for those who still find enjoyment from swingin the seat around and hangin a bait out there, or just simply to give more room when fishing reefs etc. I have a 70 pound rip tide which is run by 2 d/c batteries mounted under a step at the front platform and charged by a Minn Kota twin bank on board charger. The boat is just a beautiful size and handle-able by myself. Will endeavour to post some pics. Drewy at this stage no specs or pics, just a whisper mate. They are saying there will be no short cuts taken and are aiming to produce the right boat first up. Will keep you posted as to its progress as well as i can. By the way mate, good luck in the abt gf !

Hi Wizard.

I've been waiting to see this new tourny boat and have heard a few good things about it from a dealer in Brissy.

But there are rumours on a fishing forum here that Southern star have closed down.!!

What do you know of that????

Mick

Yes its all true, the makers of my boat, Southern Star are no more. It all seemed to happen really quickly as i was talking to the sales manager only six weeks ago and everything was "FLYING !" This is a great disappointment to me as i considered s- stars building processes to be fantastic and was really looking forward to seeing the F1. I'm happy I got my Stealth though as i don't reckon there is anything that will do quite what she does, R.I.P Southern Star.
