I know there not bream
Went down to Walpole last week and the Starling Squidgies proved to be the go on skippy near the ocean entrance, I straightened the hooks trying to stop the unstopables on 4 kg gear. Almost spooled by a ray on the same outfit, had to use the kota to catch up.
Had some awesome bream within a rod length of the boat, between 4-5 inches across the back and getting close to 50 cms long, these fish were sitting 2 metres below schools of 20-40 bream only 30 cms below the surface. I couldn't stop them on 4kg gear with a locked spool, they simply pulled the boat closer to the snag. Next year I'll have a steel cable attached to a winch that can cast a 5gm lure with the boat anchored mid stream, then we'll see who wins. |
