For anyone interested, I filmed a segment with ABC's "Stateline program" in Nannup yesterday, (Elvira is the presenter and yes she is even more beautiful in the flesh than she appears on TV!).
It was on the Yarragadee aquifer pumping issue and effects upon the Blackwood and Karri Forests to the east of Nannup! I don't know when it airs - maybe Friday night Channel 2 @ 7.30 PM or Repeat Saturday lunchtime - or it could be next week - I don't know how far ahead their production schedule is - so just keep an eye out this week & next!! I believe that the Cameraman & Presenter Elvira gave us a GREAT hearing, (we spent more than 3 hours together filming and interviewing) however - no one knows how much of it will end up on the editting room floor! I hope we get the message across - I did the best I could! I don't believe it will make any difference myself, to the outcome, in that likely the whole thing is a done deal anyway, but I had a go! I believe that after me they interviewed the Water Authority dudes, and then the Nannup Shire president Barbara Dunnett! It'll be interesting to see how they cut it together! Maybe all of us should write to ABC and Elvira at Stateline and thank her for her efforts to get the message out there on such an important issue! It couldn't hurt could it?...that they get some "feedback" about just how deeply the community feel about the issue - maybe a few of the emails against the Yarragadee proposal from breamers would get shown in the program, if done straight away! Cheers! |

Damn govt knobbled the show I reckon - they said it couldn't be shown due to "industrial action" which can only mean the new political dept within ABC (to ensure no one hears the REAL truth), got hold of it, and slapped a ban on it going to air! Bloody Orwells 1984 is here people - you can't even tell it like it is on the TV anymore, or show the govt up for the fools they are! Suckerfrussen russen cussen fricken suppression of free speech, damn McCarthyite reds under the beds, govt sensors are at it again - what chance has the environment and our rivers got when - no ones even allowed to publish the truth anymore! Wheres Prince Leonnard of Hut River Province when you need him? It's time we seceeded from the Commonwealth - our worse nightmares have come true! Orwells 1984 is here just 22 years late is all - and the lunatics are running the assylumn! We need to form an independant principality like HRH Prince Len! Whats this damn cursed world commin too! A pox on all their houses I say! Hours I spent wading around in that bloody cold freezing water and for what? Nada, zippo, zilch! Cheers!

Trouty you need to complain in the right direction. Shoot off letters and e-mails to people who have to justify not putting the show to air. ABC is govt and is accountable (apparently?)

I did get a response from Layla Tucak of ABC to my email to say they will run the Stateline program tonight (barring any more Union actions!).
I am told that someone saw a short clip promoting the program tonight *Friday* at 7.30pm on ABC yesterday sometime! Hopefully it will air. Apparently it repeats again Saturday ABC at midday if you miss it tonight. Interested in any feedback - will be interesting to hear the 'spin' the Water Authority boffins try to put on it! Cheers! |

Good on you mate for trying!
Can't say I'm too surprised the high powered over paid nuff nuffs doing squat except getting manicures on our time and money would want the truth to come out. How dare you try and save, and do something good for our waterways (the veins of the country) at the possible expense and detriment of their high standing position in the public office. How dare you ![]()

At least I got the last word in!
Man that 3 hours of questions & detailed answers turned into about 45 seconds of sound grabs! They never seem to show the detailed stuff - just the "controversial" sound bytes is what they want... I grabbed rocks with pebble case caddis and freshwater mussels etc on em and they filmed them! I explained that these were the aquatic insects etc that were going to dissapear - they never showed that at all! There was a LOT of good points I made that never got to air! I had a page full of points I wanted to make that I arranged the night before.......and I got them all across to camera but they never made it to air... Damn it's hard to have any REAL effect on TV... The Yarragadee always was always will be a done deal, & public consultation means NOTHING to this governement... I made mention of the fact the govt called tenders for expressions of interest, to manufacture the steel pipes to take the water to Perth 2 years ago before they even started the public consultation process...ergo - they never had any intention of listening to what people want...it was always a done deal from the start! Non of this sort of stuff ever makes it to air! Cheers! |
