Quintrex 385 stressed hull
My 385 Quintrex explorer trophy is stressing and warping around the front rib it is gradually getting bigger over the last 3 months i checked out another 385 breamers hull at the Mandurah boat show mine is 2 years old and his is 3 years and his is doing the same thing i cant remember his name and im hoping he reads my thread as i am having a bit of trouble, the people i am dealing with seem to keep saying that i may have hit something as it has 2 little scratch marks on it would be a big help if i could contact this young bream member.

mate that was me that you were talking to at the show. i got rod to have a look at mine and my hull has split a little so i have to get it welded. i also had a look under the ribs and there is rubber but it is worn and very thin, i was thinking of sprayin that rubber stuff inbetween the ribs

God hope that won't happen to mine. I've got the 395 and got the bottoms increased from 1.6 to 2 in thickness.

do u have a rubber lining underneath yr ribs carol. i think the reason this is happening is because they arent ment to have so much wieght up the front of the boat with the livewell. plus they arent built to last are they

Well I just pulled up my top and there is no rubber lining under my ribs!
This is all double dutch to me, I don't know will have to undo the casting decks I guess to be able to see .... I guess only Rob and Ben can answer that, I didn't look when it was opened.

Richo and Durko both have the 420 ET, wonder if they have had any problems? And all 4 of us bought it from the same place! I know Durko has his livewell in the same spot as mine. Oh well, I only use my livewell 4 times a year ....

l have to say l think we are expecting maybe just a little to much of our humble V-Nose punt's.l'm sincerely sorry Graham that your boats in the mess it's in. l hope that you can have the matter resolved in due course. What lm saying here is not directed at you as l dont no how your situation came about.
The conditions on the first day at Albany were really rough(ask James )not to mention the trip back on day two(ask Brad) and these ali boats although able to cope do so at there peril l believe.A flat hull smaking into a wave front time and time again is test for any boat let alone one that is designed for closed waters and rivers. They rely on minimal ribs and welds to keep shape. My own boat has held up to date but l believe thrashing these hulls in rough water at the start of a round is only going to result in tears later on down the track.lm sure half the guy's here go somewhat harder on there hull's during an event.Flat bottom hulls in lighter thickness ali are truly at even more disadvantage.l just think we need to be prepared for spilts broken ribs and hull damage if we treat'em mean.JMO.lm just trying to say if you value your time on the water then maybe ease up a little and see your boat for what it is and not an invinceable water chariot. Also if any evidence of cracking ribs, supports and the likes is visible it should be delt with straight away so as not to stress the other joins and such. Like l said before Graham this is not directed at you mate lm just making others aware of the dangers of going hard.... Goodluck Steve. |

I fully understand the things we put our boats through, another reason why i went for a different kind of ally boat. With 2.5mm of plate ally and a 1 piece hull im more than confident of giving the tracker a hard time and ask shanine, on day one i did.
My stessco which i started the season with was 1.6mm and i was scared this would happen as well, day two at walpole was pretty tough on it too so when the opportunity arose i upgraded. Graham, maybe check over your trailer too, the trailer my stessco came with wasnt that flash and i think damaged the hull so it needed warranty work on it. Good luck in getting it sorted. |

thick
they need to be thick brad, especially when you can,t read shallow water markers and drive your boat full stick on to the sand bar

Hi Guys,
didn't mean to open up a can of worms just like to point out no disrespect meant to Quintrex still love the product and my boat, just trying to find out whats happening with my boat so hopefully I can do the right thing by her and get her fixed up and stop this from happening any further to my hull. Enjoyed reading the comments and feedback, I'll keep you posted. ps: Hodgey, the post about the boat hitting the bank almost got me in the sh** the wife thought it was me that did it! Havnt noticed any drama with mine, and I keep my weight down the back, dosnt mean im not going to be giving it a good looking over this weekend, especially considering the way I got smacked around on day two. How noticable is this warping Graham ? not sure if i know what im looking for?
cheers
