We used to have a bloody big padlock on our old motor. We don't have anything on the new one cos if anything moves outside at night the BIG Bad Woofer out the back goes off his rocker. You gotta be game to get past a staffy x kelpie x ridgeback.

So thats my most effective security lock for the motor, Failing a dog, get a big padlock

Cheers

Mim

Hi Bubba,

I got a device from Whitworths that slides over the large wing nut type things that hold the motor to the transom and stop people from removing it. It is really just a very simple bit of square tube that you can put a padlock in to keep it on.

Only works for motors that have the manual clamps rather than bolts as most larger motors have (over about 30hp).

It's a simple system, but if you have a look around any of the yacht clubs you will see that it is quite widely used on tenders on the larger boats.

PS. We have a jack russel which tends not to scare burglers........

Cheers
James.

Bubba,
Mate of mine at Just Propellers sells them. Give him a call on 9244 9255 and say I sent you. His name is Mike Constantine. Top bloke.

Pics to follow.

Angry If they Want it they'll get it

When I was putting my boat into the Boat storage yard in Mandurah at the Holiday Villa's or something for the first Mandurah Comp, a guy had just had his 30 cv Yamaha stolen and he had all the precautions on his boat. It was Bolted on to the transom and had that thing on from just propellers and got nicked. Not to mention the boat was in a secure yard with 8" fences with sharp spikes on the top. The bastard Theives got the motor of the boat and over the fence in the security light kindly supplied by the Motel.
I reckon your better off staking out your boat, hide in the bushes with a sawn off baseball bat and go treat em like base balls with it.
Regards Geoff
Bubba bolt on your motor before you go out, don't leave it on the bottom of melville water like I did .
