What is the most sucessful lure fellow bream master members, you have used? I don't care if you don't tell me secret weapons, but just to get an idea if i am on the right track and not buying junk. successful colours also.

Sneaky Scorpions. Personally, I have found the most successful colours being the Firefin, Gold and Golden Green. Backing up that would be the Oargees..in Gold and the Mullet pattern.
Mate, get a good selection of all sorts of different lures, you'll find you're going to have to use different lures in different situations. And don't get too hung up on the colour issue, i've caught bream on lures with colour patterns that would be more suited to a mardi gras parade. Good luck.. |

My favourite hardbody at the moment is a Halco sneaky scorpion 35,crawfish colour (brown with orange belly) I've caught plenty of bream, flathead, bass, redfin and even a blackfish on it. I have a gold/orange scorpion 35 also which I have modified(smaller trebles) so it is now a shallow diving floater but I prefer the brown one.
As far as softies go the ecogear glass minnow 1.75" in Red Back with Small Flake. It is the only colour I have at the moment, but the bream, flatties and bass love it. In one session I reckon it was hit about fifty times, many of the fish were small, but it held up remarkably well, on the 50th hit the tail was bitten off. 90% of my bream on softies have been on this lure (I am relatively new to the bream on lures thing though) Lizard |

Thanks for all the replys guys. so the general idea is get a wide variety of different lures and colour is then second on the agenda.
Iwas thinking about buying the bream book buy steve starling although it is not read a text book and you can fish, it is experience that counts. i have fished for trout alot and read many books but it is mostly crap, again experience. On a quik flick through of the book I noticed alot of attack minnows in the orange tiger colour?

Well over here i the West i think the best colours are Gold, Bronze, Red, Orange and Pink!!!
My personal favourite are the Sneakies, but at the moment I'm actually catching a lot on my Home Made hard bodies. The tiger attacks are definately fish catchers. Colour is a big part of the attracting, but the action is Crucial. Make sure the action is tight and that the lure really shimmies on a slow retrieve. Dave |
