reel for the clear cut?
hey guys i have just about got my clear cut 66 1-3kg 2 pc rod from bd now and am getting exited but i was contemplating what reel to match it up with. i know i have put posts up before but i wasnt really clear on what rod i was goin to purchase. so i was just wondering what reel u would put on this rod inbetween the price range of 0-150, i do work at a tackle store so i can get discounts!!!
Cheers Mitch

for that price range i'd go a stradic 1000 for sure! It may be slightly more than 150... but if you get a discount?
Quality reel indeed! -Sergio

If you work in a tackle store you should already know which reel you want Personally I used a Daiwa Capricorn 1500 on my CC 1 - 3kg the first time and it sat really nicely and balanced well, but I have since purchased a Daiwa Exceler 2000 for the job. A bit lighter than the Cappy and quite a bit cheaper too. If I had the cash... I'd go the Cappy, but as it was I could only afford the Exceler. Looks to be a nice reel and feels sweet, but as yet untried in combat. Gaff

At the moment, the Daiwa's are still better in quality and longevity than the Shimano's. Daiwa Caprice, Capricorn, Exceler, Laguna are around your price range you're seeking in the 1500 or 2000 series.
I was a big Shimano reel fanatic, but comparing them to the Daiwa's, at present, they aren't up to the standard. Daiwa have certainly set the benchmark. That's my suggestion

This may or may not help as i havnt seen the 1-3 CC in the flesh . Although i do have a CC 2-4 6ft , which ive paired up with a Daiwa Capricorn 1500 . I must say im more than happy with the balance .As Gaffer stated there are a couple of cheaper Daiwa reels out there that may be closer to your budget , but if you can its worth stretching a bit for a more superior reel .

I've a couple of the Stradics and love them. As long as you do the right thing they will last for sure. I also have a couple of Sustains which I'm really happy with as well.
