Almost surface (dives to 30cm or so) is the megabass x30 marukins. Expensive but they work well

Wait a bit and we'll see how Dave Press' prototypes turn out...Otherwise, yellow_door1 used to have a bit of success using the R2S bubble pops.

Otherwise, if there's a lot of long, skinny fish in the water, get yourself a Yo-zuri pins minnow, and hack the lip off. Coat the area you've sanded the bib flush to the body with some nail polish, and there you go.

Cast it out against the bank, or where you see bream up near the surface, and twitch it. Once, twice, and pause for quite some time. If the fish shows no interest, do it again. You'll get a lot of boils, and missed hits, but it's all in the name of the game.

Ted and I find the best time to be doing this is with no wind, or a bit of wind ruffle. For some reason, the bream in Townsville don't seem to like feeding at night. Early to mid-morning is best. Low light is better than none at all though.

Eastcoast Rack Rats

Mate have a look at some eastcoastlures rack rats, they are the ones with the rubber legs. I had a great day at Yamba last week at one stage 5 bream from 5 casts. Cast in close to structure and hang on for the thrill of your fishing life. I only surface fish at the moment because it is so exciting. The takes are always violent and from nowhere, real heart racing stuff. I have had fish have many goes at the lure before they hook up, the hook up rate improved if you can resist moving the lure when you get a strike.

Where are all the other colours?

I'd love to see 'em all...They've had me curious for a long time, but the chart on the link only shows 14 lures. Also wondering how the online store charges these days?
