Jackall Baby Bunny30

A late afternoon fish today had left me less than satisfied with a fair bit of wind plus heavy boat traffic guaranteed by a warm Autumn Sunday. I decided to hang out till right on dark to see if that wind might drop along with the turn of tide. It was as i was coming up the little creek near home in near darkness i opted for one last lure change. No wind, lots of mangroves, time to give a top water or surface a go!
About 10 seconds was how long the Jackal Baby Bunny 30 lasted before it got 3 hits in quick succession the third hooking up. It wasn't a huge bream but jeez he hit that funny named, funny looking Japanese lure hard and took quite a bit of work to land in the poor light, snag filled water and with a ultra light rod. It sure gives out big sound (noise) with gold metal tail which can be replaced with a hook supplied and soft tail of your own choice. The 30mm size is just right for Bream and lot of colours, i was using a natural light green fade on top to silver on belly. It runs just below the surface, floating quickly when retrieval is stopped. HEAPS OF POTENTIAL!

30mm 3g, 1 1/8 " 1/8oz, surface crank bait with metal blade, attracts fish from deep water with the vivid wobbling action and the blade noise.

My poor old kayak gets a lot of use and the rest of the time is chained up to a tree on the bank so only gets a wash when it rains. Ive been throwing an other Jackall (Chubby 38) the last few days going for a few casts right on dusk with the run in of the tide in a small sheltered creek. But tonight the bunny got a quick go with a hook up strait away to confirm the potential of this rewarding shallow diver.
I have not seen these anywhere in oz even with other Lake Police lures starting to become more accessible but not sure, i have been buying them overseas, i have just ordered two more!

I was very close to ordering some of these guys but thought they would miss alot of hits with the hook position so far forward. I have always removed the body hook and just fished the tail hook for bream. Is that a difference with fishing surface lures? I don't think I have ever had a genuine bream hookup on the body hook of a hard body.
Might have to rethink these guys and snap a few up.

They are described as a surface crank bait by jackall but its a below the surface if retrieved with speed, slow it down with pauses and its plopping along the surface with short dives! The single treble seems well positioned with the hook ups of mine all being solid, a problem i have had with a lot of other top water lures.

I'm just surprised that I'm not hearing much (anything???) about them on the bream scene. I have just gone into the city (Sydney) just to buy Jackalls with one place having next to nothing and me cleaning out the one other shop of a dozen chubbys and small frys but NO BABY BUNNY'S! so the only way is to get one off the Jap import sites.
