Question Making Lures - bibs

Just wondering if anyone makes their own lures?

I'm in the process of getting materials ready but can't find anything for making a bib.

From my research plexiglass is a no-no and 'Lexan poly-carbonate' is recommended. However, I can't find a hardware that sells it. I have been recommended a material that is like plexi but I am not sure how it handles (and I also can't remember the name!).

Does anyone here make lures and if so what would you recommend for the bib?

Cheers ...

Hey Scolers

You may wish to keep your experience pure but you could have a look at maybe purchasing some Halco lure bibs?

I think some lure companies sell seperate bibs as an addition?

What sought of lure do you wish to produce?

Im assuming a small bream lure?

See if you can buy some plastic from say menzals plastics or that dreaded word, Bunnings?

Enjoy

When I used to make my own lures I used to use aluminium tubing found on folding chairs etc. It is easily cut with hacksaw and tinsnips. Firstly cut the tube in half length ways ;what ever lenght is easy to handle. Then cut out the shape with the tinsnips file smooth and flaten the end to be inserted into the lure with some pliers job done

Thanks for the advice.

I didn't realise you could buy just the bibs forom the manufacturs ... or can you get the from tckle shops?

I've just come back from Bunnings with some polycarbonate ... it's supposed to be better than perspex as it doesn't corrode or 'shatter' after too much exposure to cold which perspex does. You cna also cut it with heavy duty scissors and then just sand the edges smooth. It's also good for shaping the bib ... but I am still working out how that affects the lures performance.

I want to make a range of lures but am starting with the small bream lures.

Cheers ...
